The Fire Department had to be called when a packed house turned out for Panamanian photographer Javier Gomez‘s exhibition at Cipriani Wall Street the other night. A dozen people jammed themselves into a tiny elevator that got stuck between floors for 20 minutes. Among them was Colin Cowie, party planning guru and host for the photo show to benefit Parkinson’s Disease. The fire crew helped the stranded to safety. An unruffled Cowie said, “It’s the best entrance I’ve ever made.” Sales of Gomez’s work went well. National Arts Club Director O. Aldon James and clothing designer Meghan Walsh were among those happy to take the stairs at night’s end.
